High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, can be as dangerous as any other chronic disease. It’s also called the “silent killer” because people suffering from high blood pressure can usually not detect it early on, unless it’s diagnosed during a routine checkup. In our extremely hectic lives we sometimes neglect our blood pressure and stress levels. As such, it is important for us to recognize some of the causes of high blood pressure so that we are able to minimize or modify certain activities and practices and so avoid developing this condition.
There are many causes of high blood pressure but one important factor that seems to be involved in almost all cases is stress. For a very long time, doctors considered stress to be a contributing factor only and not a cause. But new evidence reveals that chronic stress is indeed a major cause of hypertension.
Everyone gets stressed out at times. The difference is that some can manage their stress well and take measures to relieve it while others ignore it, letting it build up until it explodes or results in other negative consequences or even illness. No matter what the circumstances, stress can be easily managed when one knows the right techniques and makes the effort to use them when needed.
There are countless ways to relieve stress. The simple pleasure of listening to music, for instance, can be very calming. The next time you feel like tearing your hair out put on your favorite music and it will work every time. This tried and tested method will certainly put your mind at ease.
Breathing in a certain way is also well known to relieve stress and has recently proved to work directly on blood pressure as well. A new method called “slow breathing with music” combines a breathing technique proven to lower blood pressure with relaxing music. This great new method offers numerous health benefits and takes only a few minutes a day.
High blood pressure can also be caused by a poor diet. You are what you eat, as they say, and our diet plays a very important role in regulating our blood pressure. For example, many people are now aware that excess sodium can make blood pressure shoot sky high. So it’s important to avoid salty foods and snacks and to not add table salt to your meals. A normal, balanced diet offers plenty of natural sodium without the need for added salt.
Another element of a poor diet is eating too much fatty food, which usually has a high amount of the wrong type of cholesterol. This is the so-called “bad” cholesterol that forms plaque in arteries that can build up into blockages with dire health consequences.
The answer to avoiding excess sodium, fat and cholesterol is simply to eat a balanced and varied diet of whole, natural and unprocessed foods. Natural foods contain a healthy balance of nutrients that become degraded through processing. For example, a fresh fish, fried or baked simply, is healthier than a pack of “fish sticks” which have been chopped, blended with starches and preservatives, dipped in salty batter and frozen.
Closely related to diet is our weight and activity level. A poor diet combined with lack of exercise will quickly lead to being overweight. Excess weight makes the heart work harder and increases blood pressure. At the same time, inactivity weakens the heart because, as a muscle, the heart needs exercise to be strong and healthy. Poor diet, excess weight and inactivity are a recipe for disaster.
Smoking and drinking too much alcohol are popular vices but they are both major causes of high blood pressure. The answer to smoking is simply to stop, one way or another. There is no safe level of smoking. Alcohol is more complicated because in the right amount it can even be healthy. It’s a tricky balance because even a small amount of excess alcohol on a regular basis can easily raise your blood pressure. How much is too much? That’s often difficult to say because different people handle it differently, but if you have regular hangovers and/or difficulty sleeping you are definitely drinking too much and this is surely having an impact on your blood pressure.
These are some of the major lifestyle factors that can be causes of high blood pressure. Doctors estimate that up to 95% of hypertension cases are the result of lifestyle. The good news is that changes in lifestyle, such as eating better and drinking less, are often the most effective way of treating your high blood pressure.
At the same time, it’s important to note that high blood pressure can also depend on genetic factors. In fact, there are many cases of the condition with no other possible explanation. If high blood pressure runs in your family the chances are high that you will develop it too. If this is the case, treatment with medications may offer the only solution. Having said this, maintaining a healthy lifestyle will always influence your blood pressure and reduce the severity of your hypertension.

Do you need to lower your blood pressure fast? There are all kinds of reasons why people want to get to a normal blood pressure reading quickly. Often times it really doesn’t have anything to do about their concern with health but rather about how a high blood pressure reading will affect some other part of their life. Like work.

Any number of jobs has a requirement for an annual physical that is a condition of employment. This runs the gamut of over the road truck drivers to airline pilots to police and firemen and almost anyone who is involved in physical exertion. If you know you have high blood pressure and you’re scheduled for a physical by your employer, then you are obviously concerned.

What happens if you fail that exam? How long will they keep you on and what kind of work will they provide while you get your blood pressure under control? What does this mean financially?

Well if your exam is at least three weeks off and your pressure isn’t greater than 20 points above normal then there is good news. You can get down to normal if you want. And you can do it without drugs.

It will be a challenge but once you have the knowledge and you act on it, you’ll be able to achieve the results you want.

Let’s start with what the principal objective is. Nobody really knows what causes high blood pressure but we know plenty about its effect on the body and the blood vessels in particular. The vessels are designed to expand when the heart pumps blood and then contract after the pulse passes. A person with high blood pressure has lost some or all of this elasticity so the vessels are stiff or contracted at all times. When the vessels are contracted they have a smaller diameter handling the same force from the heart. This is what high blood pressure is.

Our job is to loosen up those vessels to allow them to more efficiently handle the flow from the heart. The steps that follow are designed to do just that.

* Step 1. Hydrate. If you had gone to a doctor he may have prescribed a diuretic to flush out salt and excess fluids. That’s fine but the diuretics come with side effects. You can accomplish much the same thing by drinking enough water. As a rule you should drink at least half your body weight expressed in ounces each day. So if you weigh 150 pounds you need 75 ounces of water. Don’t skimp on this.

* Step 2. Exercise. This is the fastest way to temporarily reduce blood pressure. Do at least 30 minutes a day of mild aerobic exercise like walking, swimming laps or riding a bike. Not only will this lower your pressure, it works off stress which is another big concern. With a little luck you might also lose a pound or two in 3 weeks. Make absolutely sure you don’t skip exercise on the day of the exam.

* Step 3. Diet. This is probably what got you your condition in the first place. Starting today, no more fast food joints for lunch. You don’t have to go hungry; you just have to watch what you eat. Don’t use any table salt; you get way more than you need from processed foods and eating out. Cut way back on red meat and fried food Substitute poultry, cold water fish or lean white meat for beef. Eat a handful of almonds or pistachios before each meal. This gives you some good cholesterol, fiber and also fills you up. Include fresh fruit and vegetables every day. And then there’s the magic garlic clove. Try to include 1 clove a day. It not only reduces cholesterol, it works as a vasodilator and expands the blood vessels.

* Step 4. Watch what you drink. Cut back on caffeinated drinks like coffee, soda and iced tea. Limit your alcohol to a single drink a day. Hey it’s only for 3 weeks right?

* Step 5. Lower stress. This will be a challenge because you’re already stressing out over the physical but you have to get control. First of all, don’t use any medication or sleeping pills. You’ll just mess up your liver and set back the progress you’ve made in lowering your pressure. Find at least 15 minutes a day that you can call your own. Do some deep breathing exercises or listen to some relaxing music. Try to include things you really enjoy doing during these three weeks. The more enjoyment you can experience, the lower the stress.

That’s a good start. It can be done and has been done by thousands. I know right now you’re just concerned with the job but I’ll guarantee that after 3 weeks you are going to experience a new freedom from hypertension. You’re going to like what you did and you are going to feel so much better. So while this is all about the job, don’t give up the effort once you’ve passed the exam. Your heart will thank you.

How Natural Supplement of High Blood Pressure Works?

Alistrol is a truly different blood-pressure-reducing supplement — a brand-new, all-natural approach to mitigating stubborn and dangerous high-blood-pressure conditions.

Alistrol has fine credentials. For instance, its formula was highlighted at the 2003 Inter-American Society for Hypertension Conference, sponsored by the American Heart Association. Its three major natural ingredients work synergistically with each other.

Alistrol works for people who have tried many other remedies without success. It has no known interactions with prescription high-blood-pressure medicines; you don’t have to risk stopping your other therapies in order to try out Alistrol.

Here’s what you’ll find inside Alistrol’s patented, natural, organic formula:

The Hawthorn berry is a health tonic. It is one of the most valuable and most effective natural berries that have magnificent health benefits. For centuries, hawthorn berry remains one of the most effective used botanical medicines for heart conditions particularly in Europe, Germany, Switzerland and now North America. Clinical studies have demonstrated that the use of Hawthorn supports overall health by:

To summarize, Hawthorn berry helps protect the arterial walls, can dilate (enlarge) coronary blood vessels (the vessels supplying the heart with vital oxygen, blood, and nutrients), and strengthens the heart’s pumping ability.

People who suffer from angina or hypertension (high blood pressure) may benefit from supplementing hawthorn berry to help alleviate their condition. Anyone who suffers from tachycardia (rapid heart beating) and cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heart beat) may also benefit from supplementing Alistrol to their daily regime.

Since the 19th century, hawthorn berries have been used to support the heart and to maintain cardiovascular functions. Hawthorn has a primary chemical constituent that includes vitamin C, flavonoids, (quercetin, quercetrin), glycosides, proanthocyanidins, anthocynaidins, saponins, tannins, and cratetegin. The genus name “Crataegus” comes from the Greek, “kratos”, which refers to the harness of the wood.

Alistrol’s ingredients are quite unique, reason being, the quality and ability for Alistrol to synergistically collaborate its ingredients is superior to any other hawthorn or product in the marketplace. We utilize high standards in our manufacturing of the ingredients. The stringent set of regulations encompasses every aspect of the manufacturing practice. Alistrol’s ingredients are produced in a GMP (Goods Manufacturing Practices) facility, which is the safest, and most controlled and inspected facilities by the health industry community. You’ll notice many companies marketing or selling this type of product will not have this crucial authorization.

The second ingredient in Alistrol is the Holly Leaf. The Holly Leaf is a small evergreen tree about 15m in height and is found in a wide range of soil types commonly useful evergreen shrub that can be grown as a specimen tree, clipped bushes or as a hedge. There are dozens of varieties, many with variegated leaves. Plants are either male or female. Both sexes are required for the female plants to produce their winterberries, which appear from late autumn to mid-winter. The Holly Leaf has only recently come to light for it’s health benefits especially as a relaxant and enhances blood circulation and supporting the arterial walls with a consistent blood and oxygen flow. This herb can help maintain healthy blood pressure levels and reduce high blood pressure with no known side effects, very effective.

Daikon cleanses the blood, promotes energy circulation and increases the metabolic rate. It contains diuretics, decongestants and, in terms of photochemical, the digestive enzymes diastase, amylase and esterase. This makes it a primary ingredient for natural herbal remedy to deal with the cause of high blood pressure.

In addition, regular use of Diakon in Alistrol helps prevent the common cold, flu and respiratory infections and Daikon treats hangovers, sore throats, colds and edema, and it helps cleanse the kidneys and decongest the lungs. Therefore, integrating Alistrol to your daily regime is a perfect combination in finding these herbs for high blood pressure.

Now remember natural herbal supplements like Alistrol, which lower high blood pressure naturally take time to showcase positive health benefits. Clinical studies have shown that taking the ingredients of Alistrol for 6-8 weeks showcase positive results and one may take a smaller dosage thereafter for heart health maintenance.

So, in short, the time-tested ingredients of Alistrol can…

Try Alistrol today and make this safe and most effective natural high blood pressure supplement part of your daily regime and live a life of happiness and longevity. The Power To Live Stronger! www.alistrol.com

Did you know that natural remedies for high blood pressure are the best and easiest way to lower your pressure levels. Not only are they highly effective but are completely safe to use too. In this article will list out some of the best natural remedies for reducing the same.As you already may be aware that hypertension is often referred to as a silent killer as most of the times, people are completely unaware that they are suffering from this condition and hence face the risk of premature death, strokes, heart problems etc. since they do not take any steps to correct their high pressure. And when they do find out the doctors generally prescribe them drugs to lower the pressure. However, usage of drugs over a period of time is known to cause harmful side effects and hence people are turning to natural remedies with great success. Some of the best natural home remedies for high blood pressure include eating a balanced food and doing mild and regular exercises. Foods rich in potassium and other green fruits and vegetables are highly effective for this purpose. Similarly reducing the amount of sodium often commonly found in the form of salts is also one great way of lowering your blood pressure.Regular exercising in the form of walking, aerobics at least 3-5 times a week helps not only in reducing your excess weight but also improves the blood circulation to your heart and invigorates the body. Also avoiding or decreasing the consumption of alcohol, caffeine and taking supplements is also recommended. These are just some of the natural remedies that you can use to lower your high blood pressure.

High blood pressure tends to sneak up on many people especially as we get older. Heredity plays an important role if you are inclined to develop high blood pressure. An increasing sedentary lifestyle coupled with the love of “feel good” foods is escalating the number of people diagnosed each year. It is important we recognize, monitor and control an early high blood pressure reading.

There are obvious and not so obvious steps that you can take to effectively control and manage to lower your risk of heart disease, stroke and lower your high blood pressure. Here are a few practical things to consider as part of your routines and regimens:

1) Take it off and keep it off! Being overweight is a large factor in high blood pressure. Not only will you feel better with less weight to bear on the knees and ankles, but you will take the first step in lowering the pressure.

2) Shed all extra pounds and unnecessary weight that you are carrying around. Some of us could be classified as skinny fat people. A small framed body with a large body mass index equals an overweight person.

3) Park further from the front door when shopping and go for regular daily walks during lunch or after dinner. This is a little known “secret” for weight loss. It works! Stopping fighting for the parking space that is at the front door, walk it.

4) Lower alcohol and caffeine intake – these are empty calories. I know, some of us really love our drinks but you are paying a price in wasted calories.

5) Healthy eating is a conscious decision and will not just happen randomly. Left up to our own devices we will tend to over-eat, indulge, choice the wrong food and treats and having our attempts at eating a healthy diet just simply tank.

6) Get moving and tap into what your body was designed for – TO MOVE! Be more physically active and start taking the stairs, not the escalator or elevator. How many people work on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor in a building and take an elevator? Again, start slow and great things happen.

7) Choose foods that are very low in saturated fat, cholesterol and salt. This is about avoiding temptation more than not knowing what is good for us. Motivation is the key here.

Added Bonus – Take your blood pressure readings at grocery stores, drug stores and other retailers where available. Try to use the same machine(s) for comparison because the machines can vary depending on their maintenance. The next time you visit the doctor’s office, take a machine for home use and calibrate to their readings. Once you have a baseline established then monitor the blood pressure regularly for best results.

The fact that your symptoms might not be severe or noticeable at all, does not mean that you are immune or not at risk! This is in most cases and for all intents and purposes and invisible disease, illness and medical condition.

Learning and mastering how to take charge of lowering your own blood pressure, effectively, learning how to monitor it properly, regularly and make the necessary changes, even the harder ones, in your life and lifestyle to get success and results that will last and ensure a lifetime!

So much is said about high blood pressure and the potentially disastrous health consequences if left untreated (heart attack, stroke, blindness, and all sorts of other scary health concerns) that almost everyone over the age of thirty knows at least something about it.

Actually high blood pressure is very much treatable. That is the reason why I write so much about hypertension.

It is always advised to avoid foods such as high sodium foods, processed foods, fast food, red meat, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and tobacco.

All these food items contain some toxin substance in them that affect the health and can lead to high blood pressure. All the people should why one should avoid these food.

Sodium and caffeine are not inherently poisonous but can elevate blood pressure. This is especially true of people who have a family history or other issues such as obesity that already increases their risk for hypertension

All most all fast foods and processed foods have very high content of trans fat, cholesterol and sodium. Chemicals rich in sodium are sometimes replaced for sugar in some diet foods. And these foods are mostly high in fat.

Hypertension can also be caused by red meat even though it is not processed. This is because basically you are eating the toxic substance which the animal ate before.

Alcohol and nicotine/tobacco, while not foods are things people tend to ingest or breathe in and in many cases, to excess. While I don’t see a problem with moderate alcohol consumption, research has indicated there is no safe cigarette. Keep in mind that these are by definition poisons to our bodies.

Some medicines that use over prescription or counter do have toxic substances. Therefore, it is important for you physician to know if you have blood pressure as these can increase blood pressure.

A research made on animals have confirmed that the exposure we make to day to day air pollutants can actually increase blood pressure. Pollution can increase blood pressure by 25%.

While we can carpool and recycle (yes, I’m a big believer!), we can’t control what goes on globally. Likewise, a hyperbaric chamber isn’t something we can budget for either.

People who suffer high blood pressure can always follow my high blood pressure program. This program is designed with all natural breathing and relaxation exercises. It has shown awesome results that reduces blood pressure without any side effects.

Everybody knows that millions of people all over the world suffer from high blood pressure and hypertension. It is not known, however, what the true cause is. If these illnesses go untreated they can lead to a plethora of serious heart conditions that may ultimately lead to an early or unnecessary death. These conditions are easily treated, although sometimes the symptoms are ignored.

Doctors use a very wide range of medicines and treatment in an attempt to lower the blood pressure. These medications can be dangerous, as there is no way to pre-determine which treatment is right for the individual patient. A trial and error approach is usually taken, which can mean that the wrong mixture of drugs is administered or prescribed, resulting in unwanted and sometimes dangerous side-effects.

There are many ways around having to take prescription drugs. Obviously, the more natural the better, so we are now beginning to focus on certain lifestyle changes that will decrease the risk of heart disease due to high blood pressure and/or hypertension.

If you begin with these five changes, you will feel the benefits almost instantly. Over a short period of time you will get to know other beneficial changes that you could make, as you may start to realize what foods, habits and exercises could be affecting your blood pressure.

It is always important, especially for the elderly and overweight, to consult your doctor before making some of these changes.

1. Water is a good replacement for the caffeine filled, or sugary drinks that one may drink daily. Approximately 2 liters, or somewhere around 8 and 10 glasses would be enough, each day, to cleanse and refresh your body.

2. Smoking is thought to be one of the biggest causes of high blood pressure. If you stop smoking your blood pressure levels will start to decrease in a matter of days. If you have a particularly hard time quitting, even with all of the available substitutes and medications, then at least try to halve the number of cigarettes you smoke in a day, as this will help lower your blood pressure.

3. Cardiovascular workouts are great for the heart. As the heart is a powerful muscle, it needs exercise to grow more connective tissue, which makes it much stronger and helps to keep it working just that little bit longer. It is not recommended to start a vigorous exercise regime straight away, as this could lead to a heart attack in those with particularly high blood pressure. Start off with a slow run twice a week, and lead up to more vigorous work-outs daily.

4. Altering your diet, as well as helping you to lose weight, will lower your blood pressure. 5 good sized portions of fruit and vegetables each day is the best way to increase your nutrient intake, whilst fighting high blood pressure. Decreasing the amount of salt in your diet is very important. Some say you should try to eliminate salt completely, but your body does still need salt to function properly, just do not over do it. 6g is the recommended daily allowance for salt, but if you eat lots of processed and packaged foods, be aware that they do contain “hidden” salts. This will dramatically lower the risk of heart disease.

5. One of the simplest steps you can take is to simply relax a bit. Stress is one of the worst things when you have high blood pressure, because it raises it. The worst cases are usually in sufferers that are overweight, the elderly and people with a family history of high blood pressure and hypertension. Walking, slow running, quiet meditation or just relaxing on the couch and watching the television are great ways to combat stress related high blood pressure.

Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. Blood pressure is the result of two forces: from the heart as it pumps blood into the arteries and throughout the circulatory system, and the force of the arteries as they resist blood flow. Blood pressure is measured by putting a blood pressure cuff around your arm, inflating the cuff and listening for the flow of blood. Blood pressure is always given as these two numbers, the systolic and diastolic pressures. Blood pressure is traditionally measured with a device called a sphygmomanometer. Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). Blood pressure is generally felt to be abnormally high at a level of 140/90, and some sort of definitive therapy and follow-up should be started at this level. High blood pressure is called the silent killer because it usually has no symptoms.

Blood is carried from the heart to all parts of your body in vessels called arteries. Blood does not flow regularly like water from a tap:-When the heart contracts (systole), the blood is propelled into the main arteries that act as a pressurised reservoir.

Pressure in a hose can be regulated either by controlling the rate at which fluid passes through it or by widening it. Pressure inside your arteries can cause the muscles that line the walls of the arteries to thicken. Your blood pressure is at its highest when the heart beats, pumping the blood. When the heart is at rest, between beats, your blood pressure falls. Still, for most of your waking hours, your blood pressure stays pretty much the same when you are sitting or standing still.

Heart disease is the UK’s biggest killer, claiming thousands of lives each year. Heart failure is when your heart cannot pump blood around the body as well as it should, and this can cause you to become short of breath and can cause your ankles to swell. Heart attack High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart attacks.

Various disorders and drugs can cause the compensatory mechanisms to malfunction, and high blood pressure may result. Causes In most instances of high blood pressure, no known cause can be identified. Doctors do not know what causes high blood pressure in 90 to 95 percent of people who have it. For some people, just being in a medical setting causes their blood pressure to rise.

Symptoms When blood pressure is too low, the first organ to malfunction is usually the brain. Symptoms that may occur include: Confusion Chest pain Ear noise or buzzing Irregular heartbeat Nosebleed Tiredness Vision changes. What is treatment, medication, medicines, remedy, drugs, cure of lowering high Blood pressure or Hypertension? . Although high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, can cause headaches, dizziness and problems with vision, the majority of people with the condition do not display any noticeable symptoms.

Treatment

Treatment is focused on reducing water retention and lowering blood pressure to normal limits. Treatment for high blood pressure depends on the severity of the disease and whether you have other health problems, such as heart failure or diabetes, or you are pregnant. Treatment of primary high blood pressure, especially moderate or severe high blood pressure, decreases the risk of heart failure, coronary artery disease, heart attack, abnormal heartbeats, stroke, and kidney disease, and reduces the risk of death from these conditions. Treatment for high blood pressure must be highly individualized and based on your risk factors, such as diabetes, smoking, and heart disease. Treatment when blood pressure increases slightly and the woman is not near the end of her pregnancy, bed rest may help reduce the pressure. Treatment begins with changes you can make in your lifestyle to help lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease .

High blood pressure is called the silent killer because it usually has no symptoms. When high blood pressure is not found and treated, it can cause: The heart to get larger, which may lead to heart failure. If your blood pressure is in the prehypertension range, it is more likely that you will end up with high blood pressure unless you take action to prevent it. High blood pressure is dangerous because it makes the heart work too hard and contributes to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). If your blood pressure is between 120/80 mmHg and 139/89 mmHg, then you have prehypertension. The good news is that if your blood pressure is high, it can be lowered by making changes to your lifestyle, for example changing your diet, exercising and losing weight, and when needed, with tablets. The medical community?s knowledge of high blood pressure is great, but far from perfect. High blood pressure is more common: In patients whose families have high blood pressure In those over 35 years old In males In Afro-Americans In women on oral contraceptives. The only way to know whether you have high blood pressure is to have it taken by a person who knows how (those automatic machines you sit at in the supermarket are not necessarily kept accurate condition.

It is probably OK for people with high blood pressure to drink less than moderate amounts of coffee as long as it is the decaffeinated type.

I say “probably OK”, because coffee labelled “decaffeinated” does not necessarily mean all caffeine is removed, it only means it contains much less than regular coffee; but the remaining amount may still be enough to elevate blood pressure. This factor is important because it is well known that regular intakes of caffeine, whether it be in coffee, tea, or fizzy drinks, does tend to contribute towards high blood pressure.

Regular coffee is particularly high in potassium and extremely low in sodium, so from the mineral perspective, in theory it has a tendency to reduce blood pressure; but whether this is enough to overcome the blood pressure elevation effect of the caffeine is open to debate.

For someone suffering with hypertension it would be advised to leave coffee off the menu or drink it seldom if you are sure it is truly decaffeinated. This may not be such a big forfeit as there are many alternatives to drinking caffeine-containing beverages that without a shadow of a doubt are conducive to lowering blood pressure.

For example coffee and tea drinking habits could be replaced by mixing a little honey, the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon and warm water instead; or for cold drinks one could also return to nature, and resort to freshly made fruit juices that can be flavoured to taste.

It is perhaps prudent for sufferers of high blood pressure to invest in a juicing machine and try to develop a habit of juicing enough fruit and vegetables to make drinks that not only taste good but also leaves one confident of their nutritional content and the blood pressure lowering tendency.

Juices made fresh each morning is far better than those purchased from the supermarket shelves in cartons labled “Fresh Juice”; for one the pre-packed counterparts are not really fresh and secondly their active mineral and enzyme contents are very much not diminished making them less effective in the fight agains hypertension.

One can juice apples, cantaloupes, melons, pineapples, grapes, oranges, ginger, carrots etc. and mix them in any combination and proportions in order to arrive at personal favourites.

I personally juice large amounts of carrots to make carrot juice (about 5lb of carrots will make 50 fl oz. of juice) and flavour it using relatively small amounts of sweetened condensed milk, a sprinkling of ground nutmeg and fresh ginger juice to my taste.

Another favourite of mine is juicing fresh crisp apples, with a few sour cooking apples and then flavouring the whole lot with ginger juice to taste.

Beverages made this way are best kept chilled and consumed the same day as there are no preservatives in them.

You could do similar to your taste.

Taking this theme another stage you could use a food blender to liquidise soft fruits like apricots, strawberries, ripe plums, ripe bananas etc. and use them as the basis for making sorbets or low fat yougurt / milk shakes, or nutritious homemade ice cream.

The possibilities are endless.
